HOW CAN YOU LIVE YOUR FAITH 24/7

We all have unique opportunities to talk about faith each day that we do not take advantage of:
Reflect on the verses in Deuteronomy 6: 4-9

  • 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
  • 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
  • 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

How can you talk to your family and friends when you are sitting, walking, lying down? What can you think about when you are driving in the car, having breakfast, or before bed. Each day presents opportunities to connect to others with God.

Talk about God when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Create a rhythm to sharing God with your family and friends. Each day creates several opportunities to share what God is doing in your heart and life.

Here are some more specific suggestions for when you sit at home:

  • Eat meals together (everyone): A time for focused discussion. A time for teaching or facilitating a specific truth, discussing and dialoguing about it.
  • You could mention some of the key beliefs of being Christian: What is the Trinity? Why was Jesus special? What does the bible say about love?
  • Homework (parents to children): You can relate how some of the work your children are doing connects to God. In Science/Biology how intricate and beautiful nature and science is. In English how words are used to capture stories and share them and how the bible was God’s word written down and maintain so we could hear Jesus’ story.
  • Finances (adults): When paying the bills and talking over money matters, pray for God’s guidance, reflect on God’s generosity and the scriptures that talk about how we are to be good stewards of all we own.
  • Use these times of sitting together and incorporating God into every day life.
