SMALL GROUPS/COURSES

A variety of of Christian based Small Groups and courses run regularly at Trinity and additional courses start frequently.   All are welcome to join any of these groups.  Enjoy  learning, friendship, support and sharing.   As fall begins so do a number of great happenings at Trinity and your input matters.  Please submit your ideas for topics in which you’d be interested.   So far, we have:

An evening Bible Study group..
A ‘Mixed Topics’ group to be led by  Rev. Shaun Seaman.
A weekly ‘Moving Closer to God through Prayer and Reflection.
A group to be called the Gathering. Begins Sept 20th. See Below for start date.
Suggestions for a historical look at the Book of Acts including a comparison of geographical maps. Begins Sept. 19th.  See below for start date.
Saturday morning Parenting group .
A loss support group .
A knitting group.  Join a group to knit Prayer Shawls for those in need of comfort of all kinds.
Courageous Movie Night

COURSES PRESENTLY RUNNING OR ABOUT TO START :

  • CHRISTIAN STUDY GROUP: every second week from Sept 19th to December 12 th at 7:30 pm.   A fellowship group, meeting in various members’  homes.  Reading and video study of the Acts of the Apostles. If you need more

ONGOING GROUPS  -OPEN TO ALL

  • Trinity Hilltop Ringers -  Trinity’s hand bell group performs a number of unique and delightful performances over the year,    Watch for upcoming dates of future performances.  HAND BELL RINGING WORKSHOP!, .  See below for more information.  Also looking for new members for the  Chime & Bell Choir for Children.  Would your child enjoy learning a new musical skill?   Now would be a good time to join them.  Saturdays 3 – 3:45 p.m. for 6 – 10 year olds, 4 – 4:45 p.m. for 11 years and up,.  Contact David Chin.
  • Ministry of Music is constantly involved with numerous plans for new musical “happenings’ at Trinity.  Contact of Ministry of Music David Chin  to discuss how you  might participate in Trinity’s music program.
  • Trinity Prayer Email Chain: This is an informal group of Trinity’s members who have offered to pray for special prayer requests forwarded to them via email.  Emergencies are handled by phone.  For more info, or if you would like to be a member of our Email Chain, contact the church office 613 836 1429.

Mary and Martha, Luke 10:38-42
One day Jesus and his disciples were staying with two friends, named Mary and Martha.  While Martha was busy preparing food and taking care of her guests, her sister Martha sat at Jesus’ feet and listenend to him teach.  Martha asked Jesus to tell Mary to help her.  But Jesus would not, he told Martha that Mary was choosing to do the right thing.  Preparing food and doing chores are important, however learning from Jesus and about Jesus is more important.  It’s important to strike the right balance in life between learning more about Jesus, God and the Truth and doing those things God has called us to do.  In what ways can you learn more about Jesus?  In what ways do you spend time with Jesus?  Have you struck the right balance in your life?

Tuesday February 21, 2012, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.  Join us for our annual pancake supper.
Supper includes pancakes (gluten-free pancakes will be available upon request), sausages, baked beans and fruit for $5 per person or $15 per family, payable at the door. Volunteers needed to help with set-up, take down, mixing batter to keep up with the hungry hoards, making a crock pot full of beans and at the cash.  Advise 613 836 1429 if you are able to help.

 

 Wednesday, February 29, 2012, 7:30; 2012 Speaker’s Corner Series– 4 evenings between now and spring. Four individuals speaking on four very different topics have generously agreed to come and to share by way of words and photos, either something from their work or their passion.  The first speaker in the series will be Martin Kronberg, on Wednesday, February 29 at 7:30 pm. His topic will be Genesis 1 in the 21st Century: an examination of the convergence of science and Scripture in the modern age.  A warm welcome awaits you at Trinity Presbyterian Church, located at 110 McCurdy Drive, Kanata.
