Youth Pastor Adam Janes
Adam Janes
I am a Maritimer born and raised in Sydney N.S. I moved to Kanata when I was 13 and attended and Graduated from A.Y. Jackson in Glen Cairn. I became a Christian at the age of 15 and have not looked back.
I live the Christian life with joy and passion but recognize as well, the reality that there is a lot of pain in this world. I believe there is no better way to live than with Jesus as your Lord and your guide on the Journey. Jesus is my reason for living and giver of Grace, my number one passion and the one who died for me.
I have had a passion and calling to youth ministry ever since I accepted Jesus and his plans for me. After I graduated from high school, I studied theology and youth ministry at Bethany Bible College and then at Tyndale University/College and Seminary, where I graduated in May 2006, with a BRE (Bachelor of Religious Education) in Youth Ministry.
I married my beautiful bride Christa on June 10th, 2006. Christa and I met when we were both leaders in a youth group. She is a graduate of Carleton University and is now a behavioral consultant at a children’s treatment center.
For fun I like to bike, hike, play guitar and participate in recreational sports. I am a hugeSenators’ fan and enjoy watching and attending their games. Finally I love spending quality time with my wife, friends, family and youth. I am a very sincere believer in God’s desire for community and relationship building.
I started at Trinity in August, 2006 as the Pastor of Youth and Young Families and it has been an exciting ride. I have enjoyed working with the teens and people of all ages here at Trinity. Together with Christa, who has been very involved, we find joy and excitement ministering to the ever expanding group of kids that attend Trinity’s senior youth group, “The Cove”, the junior youth group, “The Edge” and meeting with the many Young Families at Trinity.
“I feel that youth is such a critical stage in growing up. This is the age at which an individual begins to make large decisions for him/herself for the life ahead and begins the process of breaking away from parental influence. I believe that society has not invested enough in young people in guiding and helping them to make smart and informed choices. Parents do what they can but with the many pressures and stresses this life brings teens often find themselves feeling alone, misunderstood and looking for meaning. I aim to help teens to find meaning through Jesus and the life he gives. I aim to fulfill that role at Trinity and act as a mentor, a leader and a guide assisting youth in making wise choices in faith and in setting goals for the direction they want to head.
Trinity youth have put together a fun filled Fall Fair, gone on numerous outings, retreats, laser tag and sleepovers. Trinity youth has also committed to having a youth band on a consistent basis, playing worship for the youth, the church and at coffee houses. Trinity Youth has begun to build as a community of faith, friendship.
I hope to continue building up the ministry to young people with even more outings and projects geared towards youth, young families and young adults.
I am striving also to achieve the goals I have set for meeting the needs of these groups. Goals include organizing events providing pastoral support and friendship, planning for the future in our new building and looking towards future growth.
